At the Dentice di Frasso Castle it is possible to book any type of excursion and guided tour.

The Castle of Carovigno:

from the fortress to noble residence

Route: 1st floor of the Castle and basement


The guided tour focuses on the events that have led the Castle to be transformed, over the centuries, from an inviolable fortress, also equipped with dark and mysterious prisons, to an elegant residence, destined to welcome noble families and their illustrious guests.

Discovering Carovigno: between village and castle

Guided walk to discover the history of the Castle, its magnificent park and the ancient and characteristic historic Carovigno city centre, whose history is intertwined with that of the great families who lived there.


The women of the Castle: from Maria d'Enghien to Elisabetta Schlippenbach

Route: 1st floor of the Castle


The guided tour traces the history of the ancient manor through the exploits of two great protagonists: Queen Maria d'Enghien, who stayed there in the 14th century, and Countess Elisabetta Schlippenbach, architect of the grandiose 20th century renovation, a copy of whose personal diary is preserved.

The guided tour winds along the areas of the Castle where the Countess Elisabetta Schlippenbach and her husband, Admiral Count Alfredo Dentice di Frasso lived. Simce they loved the citizens of Carovigno, they worked to ensure that even the poorest girls had the opportunity to learn a profitable trade, and set up a spinning school which was very successful and brought the small town's reputation around the world.
